Market Now: Private Bank stocks up; ICICI Bank, YES Bank jump 2%
NEW DELHI: Most of the private bank stocks were up in Thursday's trade, keeping the Nifty Private Bank index in the green.
The Nifty Private Bank index was trading 0.87 per cent up at 14,340 around 10:45 am (IST).
Shares of Axis Bank (up 0.61 per cent), IndusInd Bank (up 0.37 per cent), IDFC Bank (up 0.28 per cent), Federal Bank (up 0.26 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 0.11 per cent) and HDFC Bank (up 0.10 per cent) were also trading with gains.
South Indian Bank (down 0.18 per cent) was the only stock in the Nifty Private Bank index that was slightly down around that time.
Equity benchmarks were trading in the higher territory, backed by buying across sectors, with metal and bank stocks among the leaders.
The NSE Nifty50 index was up 82 points at 10,583, while the BSE Sensex was 253 points up at 34,409.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 37 were trading in the green, while 13 were in the red.
Hindalco Industries, Vedanta and ICICI Bank were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
On the contrary, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Asian Paints and Aurobindo Pharma were among the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
