Queen fat shames two England rugby stars
The Queen just fat shamed two of England’s rugby stars.
Let that sink in.
Her Majesty was hosting a Buckingham Palace reception when she met brothers Billy and Maki Vunipola.
Weighing 130kg and 121kg, respectively, they are two of the most imposing players on any rugby field.
So when the Monarch sized up to the pair last night, she’d be forgiven for being intimidated by their size.
But as it turned out, the Queen was far from daunted and even subtly suggested that the players were a little on the flabby side.
Mako, who helped England beat Wales in the Six Nations on Saturday, said: ‘She was saying that apparently rugby is getting a lot tougher now, everyone’s fitter but she can’t see it.
His brother Billy then joked: ‘I think she was calling us fat – which is fair enough.’
Billy, who has missed out on the Six Nations with a broken arm, said: ‘It’s a massive honour that we are here and a privilege, something we will probably brag to our mum about.’
The brothers were among a line-up of famous athletes at a reception celebrating the achievements of the Commonwealth.
