Has Twitter crashed?
Social media giant Twitter has seen thousands of its users report problems using the application today. Both the website and mobile application went offline at around 2:50pm, then came back online briefly at 3pm before then appearing to crash again almost immediately.
The social media platform eventually came back online at around 3:30pm.
According to website Down Detector – which monitors online platforms when they go offline – over 6,000 users reported difficulties using Twitter at around 3pm. The issues were concentrated in major urban centres like London, Paris, New York and Los Angeles, with areas of Japan also badly affected.
Twitter could not immediately be reached for comment, however, after the site went back up the Twtter support account said the problems had been fixed:
Some users may have experienced problems sending and viewing Tweets earlier today. This issue is now resolved.

Most users reported problems with the Twitter website, with the Twitter iPad and Android apps also affected.
The social network's troubles come just a day after its share prices sky rocketed in the wake of an announcement from Morgan Stanley that it raised its rating for Twitter shares to equal weight from underweight, suggesting increased ad sales through the rest of the year.
